Your Brain Relaxation Techniques -The Simple Way!
A relaxed mind and brain feels good. Your brain exhibits
alpha waves
when you are feeling comfortable. Stress makes us feel uncomfortable and destroys your brain's cells. In some of us this does untold damage. Stress can be acute or chronic. By far chronic, an on-going stressful life, is worse. Learn to control the
pressures of life
and feel better.
Calming down is as easy as taking a deep breath. A healthy lung full of air can calm a racing heart and allow you to focus. The extra oxygen feeds your brain and your heart. This in turn calms you down. A good way to get a breath is to force a yawn. This is a trick often used by nervous actors and singers with pre-stage jitters. Give it a try. Of course, regular diaphragmatic breathing helps to prevent anxiety and other brain related problems.
In fact, there is a meditation method that I practice daily that can really help to control stress. It actually keeps the brain in alpha mode. It allows you to practice eliminating negative thoughts. It also allows you to learn to not respond physiologically when a negative thought enters your mind. In other words negative thoughts won't have any affect.
It is a form of breathing meditation combined with biofeedback. Read about it on my
biofeedback
page. With this form of meditation you can really see how thoughts and actions causes your physiology to change. You see how clearing your mind helps to calm your entire being.
Easy Meditation
Meditation
is easy too. Take a break, sit back, close your eyes, take a deep breath or two and let an image form in your mind. Of what you say? Your next vacation, I say. Think about it. You take a vacation to relax. The next best thing is thinking about it, or looking forward to it. Right?
So sit back, close your eyes, take a breath and let it happen. In your mind, walk along that white sandy beach, the blue, white tipped waves roll in, the sun warms every inch of you... feeling good, feeling good. Let this thought drift through your mind.
You are actually incorporating a little self-hypnosis into your meditation when you give yourself suggestions. This is okay, in fact it is very beneficial.
Allow yourself to drift a little further, let your thoughts wander away. Imagine the birds circling high in the sky. Really feel the moment.
This is meditation. You may feel a gentle tingle throughout your entire body. This is your brain telling you how much it enjoys going into a wonderful state of relaxed being.
Simple Hypnosis
Hypnosis
is basically the same as meditation but you add positive suggestions. Simply induce a state of trance by following the above meditation routine or others as outlined in this site and give yourself suggestions. Allow your mind and body to let go and simply accept the suggestions. Don't try to force it just let it happen.
Once your brain builds the neuro pathway that allows you to maintain a belief, and that's any belief, you will have ingrained your positive suggestion. Unfortunately that's exactly how negative beliefs arise. You have, somehow, built, a belief that is not true or no longer applies. A neural pathway in your brain exists for the belief or way of being that you currently live with.
In order to instill new beliefs you must consistently ingrain the new idea. Another way is to associate the new idea or thought to something that really charges you emotionally. Your brain will build a new neural pathway much faster this way.
Think about it. If you watched a movie or heard a song that you really liked it sticks with you. If either never did much for you then they don't stick with you. In one case the neural pathway was built well. In the second the neural pathway wasn't built at all and it would take a lot of listening to the song or watching the movie to make it stick.
This is the same with teaching yourself new positive thoughts and eliminating negative thoughts. This also applies to beliefs, which are thoughts, as well as likes and dislikes. It virtually applies to nearly everything that exists in your world.
Awesome Biofeedback
Biofeedback
Wis an excellent way of measuring the pleasure that your brain derives from meditation and other relaxation techniques. Biofeedback allows you to condition yourself by seeing the response your body has to you calming yourself.
Once you see your body actually responding to thoughts you quickly gain the ability to control your thoughts and your body's reaction to thoughts. A neural pathway is quickly built because you see the results of your brain and body responding to your thoughts. With practice you learn to control every aspect of your life. This is an awesome approach to improving your life.
You can learn mind body control with these techniques. I did. There were times when I thought some of the methods were too difficult but I perservered and succeeded. You can too and enrich your life.
