Brain Waves

Brain waves change depending on what you are doing. They are a measure of your brain's activity. Thoughts alone can change your brain-waves. A bit of knowledge of the different brain-waves helps to understand what's happening when we are relaxed, meditating, or somehow engaged in something we really enjoy.

Beta Waves

These waves are typical of active states. You may be having an attentive discussion with someone or defending your life. They are also an indication of stress, emotional upset and basically anxiety bound times.

Alpha Waves

These waves are typical of relaxed states. They are prominent when meditating, or in some other form of a trance such as hypnosis. These are the waves you want to attain to maintain a relaxed state of mind.

You can enter alpha by relaxing with biofeedback biofeedback, meditation and hypnosis. All are basically a form of trance.

Theta Waves

These waves are typical of the state between sleep and falling asleep or vice-versa.

Delta Waves

These waves are typical of deep sleep. Although, a full period of sleep will produce varying brain-wave patterns.
